Going to take your advise and see how she performs before trying to do any prop swaps. I appreciate your all the replies wheelman! I’m busting through the seams to get her in the water. I love being a BCB owner so far!
Hopefully I have some feed back next week.
I just ran your boat/engine combo on the prop selector. Assuming you have the standard gear case, both overall performance and top speed resulted in Trophy Plus 23P. Tempest plus was never listed which is surprising to me because I would have thought it to be the best prop for that combo.
I took the Margay out today for the first time on Lake Conroe. Lots of boats and very choppy. I do like how the boat handled the chop but it is a little loud on the bottom side which is expected fora 16’+ boat. I never got wet though and purposely tired to hit a few wakes direct and from the side so like that. I do however would like to state that the boat seems to get a little squirmey once you get rolling past 30mph but maybe I need a little time behind the wheel. I couldn’t imagine how this little cat handles with a 150 as the 115hp seems to let her scoot pretty good!
I will say that wheelman is totally right on the flexing of the trailer when applying the transom saver. I was actually shocked at how much it moves with just a small amount of movement of the motor in the down position. I have a Motor Mate on order hoping to make that go away. Overall I am happy with my purchase but time will tale if it’s my 5 year boat or another Skeeter is in my future. Just for giggles what is the purpose of the FW/IN button? It seems to just fill the boat with water?
Correction : PMantle commented on the trailer flexing NOT wheelman.
Sorry for that Wheelman!
No worries, I will say the single trim cylinder on the 115/150 hp 4-strokes is quick and I had to get used to it initially as it’s not like the traditional 3-ram. I have a 4” trailer on my Sabre and it can flex it, so imagine you have to be even more careful with the 3” trailer on the Margay.
Any experience with the Motor Mate?
I have one on order thinking the transom saver will go away?

The transom saver will never go away. It’s currently the only device that does anything at all for the transom. Motor Mate type devices simply attach the motor to itself. They do nothing for the lever type motion that can be harmful to your transom.

With motor mounts on the 4-strokes getting softer and the engines getting heavier, I think a transom saver does a better job of limiting movement and wear/tear on mounts from rough roads.
Check out the Tote-Rite motor bracket. It’s specifically made for 4 Strokes. I’ve got that on my Margay and love it!
Here’s a video I made before upgrading to Pro-XS mounts and you can see how much movement there is when trailering even with a traditional transom saver, imagine it would have been worse without it…
Shucks don’t apply logic to our suggestions on transom savers.
Your messing with the bees there.
What suggestion does BCB offer on transom savers?

As far as I’ve read they’ve always recommended the old school stick as it actually supports the motor at the most leveraged point to control it’s movement and the only thing that actually offers support of it not being transferred to the transom. As jackplates get longer adding more leverage it only seems more important to taking the strain off the transom, though suppose they flex some and absorb some of the shock.
