The gearcase needs a set of side covers over the intake ports. There is another post with images on Allen cap screws in the ports.

Mercury produces the parts for higher performance uses. The gearcase was built at a time engines used pressure to cool. Today’s Opti series uses flow to cool and they need more.

just so I understand its not the position of the transducer as much as it is a flaw in mercury engineering.

I’ve got an ‘18 Sabre 175 Pro XS. It’s got the Helix 7G2SI on it with transducer in the off centered bottom of transom under the jackplate. I’ve got a Smartcraft with accurate water pressure (analogue is spot on too). I’ve run 24 Tempest, 25 Tempest, 24 Fury…I get 18 psi @ WOT regardless of prop. I’m at 3.5 inches below pad. I tried raising 1/4 inch, and I lost 4-5 lbs of pressure WOT. I have no mods to the lower unit water intake. Any chance you’re too high on the plate?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

its been at the dealer most of the time since I bought it last month. I was told everything was set from factory as far as engine height is concerned .

they took lader of the side had to trim bow protecter 6 in. put plates on the side which lost 5 mi.hr.engine finally blew up mercury put new engine mecury set engine 4/1/2 to 5 in. pr.18# going straight corning 5to6# mec.said step wasnt wright
