1992 Pantera 2 – Owners Manual (PDF)

Hi, I'm a new owner and have a lot of questions about the boat I recently bought. The steering is pretty tight and the previous owner suggested that it's likely from it not having power steering. However, it would be very difficult to steer this boat with one hand traveling 25 mph and I just don't think that's normal. I also have problems trying to figure out if my bilge pumps are working for the livewells because I can't seem to get it to pump water. Water slowly fills naturally but probably took about 20 minutes to fill 5 gallons of water. I'm assuming one of the two pumps should be pumping this water in but I'm new to bass boats too, so I'm not entirely sure. I'd like to know if anyone has any information to help me with these problems and/or see if there's an owners manual in PDF format that might go into detail how to operate different functions of my boat. I watched a lot of youtube videos regarding the steering issue and I'm wandering if I need to pull the cable from my Mercury XR6 150 and clean the old grease out and rust to try to fix this issue. With me having two of these cables attached to the outboard I noticed that the one closest to the outdrive is very clean and shiny however the one closest to the boat is covered with a powdery type film that makes it look dull. Other than that, the boat is really in excellent shape for being as old as it is. I'm the 4th owner but the original owner's brother bought it from him due to medical issues to where he couldn't use it anymore and then the owner I purchased it from just bought it in March 2018 so it's been babied. There was a PDF archive on the .com though which we don’t see it now. The steering is about engine height on top end, trim below mid range and above that engine height. It should loosen up when trimmed slightly and if it doesn’t it’s either cables or engine height. You should not need much trim on top end.

The aerator should fill the wells and the valve should be on auto or fill for filling. The valve control is located on the right side. There is one aerator that both fills and circulates, and the recirculator just circulates.

There should be no tight steering sitting on the trailer static. If there is then it’s bad cables.

I have 4 pumps in my boat….2 red and 2 yellow. Can anyone tell me which of these should be going to the live wells and which are to pump water out of the boat? My bilge pump only works on manual…..is this a sign of needing replacement or could this be a wiring issue since it doesn’t come on automatically? I also don’t think the pump that’s responsible for filling the live wells is working because they seem to be filling by path of least resistance. Very little water enters the live wells. Any suggestions? I’m brand new to bass boats so I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I typically do a lot of mechanical work on my own cars but boats are a different beast when it comes to pumps and their different operations.
