Congrats on your “new” boat and welcome to the family board!BassCat doesnt usually release production numbers of models, and because this was a few years ago, they may still not or do not have those figures any longer. You could call the factory and they might tell you “off the record”.You have a boat that was the first of many things for BassCat and the boating world. This was billed as the “Tournament Fishermans Dream” as there was a 150 hp limit on the BassMaster and most major trails back then. The Eyra was the first model ever offered by any company with a standard recessed trolling motor pedal basin. It was also the first with the rounded styling seen on many boats and refined over the years in the BassCat lineup. Notice the trademark lightning bolt that wraps around toward the transom? The first generation Eyras were the first and only BassCats to have that styling until around 2006 or so, when the “wrap around ” bolt was added to all the models. Also the first BassCat with the handrails built into the top cap. The Eyra was new, cutting edge styling leading to the Jaguar, Pantera III and original Cougar. Shortly after introduction, the hp limits on tournament trails was raised and bigger was better(bigger engine too). Rest assured, the 17 10″ Eyra was cutting its teeth and tested on the Great Lakes. It is a deep hull and its capabilities are deceiving.I bought a used 1996 Eyra from a friends estate back in 2007, when my family decided we needed to get back into a fiberglass rig. I have updated the seats to a newer style. Most people think it is only around 5 yrs old, the styling is similar yet different.Congrats again, sorry to be long winded. Its just that everytime I get in that boat I enjoy it more and more……maybe because Im getting older and value time on the water…..maybe because it is a fun boat.
