Looks to be in very nice condition.

You generally do not “paint” gelcoat and refinishing gelcoat with clear can be extremely expensive, sometimes with very mixed results. I would suggest a professional buffing and a good coat of wax.

I would think that 15 foot talons would put way too much weight on the rear and would make it very difficult to plane the boat. Powerpoles or Raptors would be much lighter on the back end. power pole no makes a single pump to power 2 poles to make installation easier.

Okay, thanks for the feedback on the paint job, and the Talons.

 

I have the dealer that I’ve contacted about the work looking into the Talons to see if the additional 165lbs in the rear that both will add will affect the performance of the boat too much.

 

My reasoning for the 15′ Talons is the lakes I fish for bass….I regularly find them in 10-20 feet of water.  (North West Ontario, Canada)

 

I think I’ll stick with the buff and wax as you say.

If you are usually fishing that deep, save weight and money and replace trolling motor with an Ultrex (24V will be plenty with two 31 series batteries) or some other TM with spot lock and skip the Talons.  Those things weigh a ton plus they hang the weight way off the stern compounding the weight issue.  Also noisy as hell.  For fishing shallower, Power Poles (8′) or Raptors from MK if you think you need them.  I fish in less than 5′ 90% of the time so I wouldn’t be with out my PP now.  When in deeper water I use spot lock on my Ultrex 24V 45″ shaft on my 2020 Caracal but I don’t use live scope.  Depend on the waves you will deal with, you may want a longer 52″ shaft on TM.

Yeah, I talked to the dealer today, and we are going with just the one 15′ Talon, instead of 2.

 

He said that would be plenty to lock me in place, and half the weight. (Not including the pump)

 

I usually like to sit in one spot, and cast 20-40 feet into my fishing spot, and I despise when the wind makes the boat spin even on spot lock.

 

Want the convenience of not spinning, and having to reposition for my casts.

Going with an Ultera for a trolling motor, wife and I are getting up there in age, and she hates picking up and deploying the TM.

You could paint the Merc to match the boat. I have a 96 PII w/blue bolts, silver pins. My Merc has blue decals to match the boat. You will like the boat!

You can buy a Mercury in Artic or Polar white, and match it just fine. We would not change color of the boat as the cost will be extreme and the life be hampered on the job. Few are capable of doing that right and those that are will be very expensive.

We would find a used high quality and functioning Evinrude in that generation for back up. They aren’t expensive and we’re fairly good other than the VRO system. They ran good, were a bit thirsty, and those engines should still have moderate parts availability. There are a couple of high quality rebuilders that should still have blocks also.

Thats just the most reasonable and value oriented exercise.
