1999 jag trailer boards

Not positive about your year and model but I believe most are not really 2 X 4’s but 2 X 6’s that have to be trimmed to fit just right. I’m sure someone has done it themselves and will be able to explain.

Not sure either but I redone my 88 caracal a few times thru the yrs and it was 2×6 trimmed. I used pressure treated. The only reason I replace the board was convience. To have them ready.

Those are 2×6 treated wood with a trim of 5/8″ off one side, then carpeted double on top, the second layer of carpet wraps the board. The front end is tapered about 20″ long with an additional 5/8 to zero for cosmetics on the trailer. The back end has a 45 degree chamfer across 3/4″ deep to reduce wear on the red corner. That should explain how, now the carpet is your decision though we do sell that.

Bass Cats reply is right on, and you will also need stainless staples and a gallon of DAP Wellwood contact cement, ( I like the gel formula) Also be sure to save a piece of carpet off one end so you have a pattern for the end cuts.

It’s a 99 jag and the 2 center boards bow out and I think thats why it doesn’t like to push on trailer very good…I bought the boat a year ago with 117 hours so I’m sure it sit on the trailer alot to get the boards to bow that bad

Replacing my bunks at this very moment. Took a break for my fingers to get feeling back while rolling the carpet tight on the boards.

2ea. 2x6x8. Treated. These boards are cut shorter to a little over 6 feet.
Trimmed as stated above.
Contact cement.
New Basscat 24oz carpet ordered online.
Electric stapler is the way to go.
New Lag bolts.

Don’t forget to bow them in at the front to hug the front of the boat. After seeing BC do that to new boards on my old trailer and how efficient the guys are I have no problem having a professional install them.

The boards will be bowed when installed properly, I used a ratchet strap to pull them into the correct position before installing the lag screws. I used the old boards as patterns for the new ones and pre-drilled all the screw holes.
