2005 Puma repowered with 2025 Mercury 250 pro xs prop selection

The  prop for that hull used to be the 25 Fury 3 with the 2 stroke.  If I am not mistaken, putting a 4 stroke on that hull would pitch it down to a 24 Fury 3.  I am sure BCB will be along shortly to make a recommendation.

Thanks for the question 1969! I am in the process of re-powering my 08 Puma as well! So very curious to see what the prop selection or recommendation is for the 25′ Mercury 250HP Pro XS four stroke! Appreciate you letting me hop on!

I have an Eyra but know 2 guys who have 2014-15 Cougar advantage elite’s that run 250 pro xs 4 strokes. I believe those hulls and weights are the same as the puma. Both run a 24 Fury at mid-high 70s. One weighs about 275 and his fishing partner is probably 250, he runs a 23 Fury in the summer time.

Neither boat mentioned in last post are running power poles and both are still using 24 volt trolling motors.

Thanks for the replies, I have a garmin force TM, 2 12” graphs on the bow. I had a 225 Verado on the boat and currently have a 25 fury 3 blade, sounds like I may need to drop a pitch or two. I suppose I will see what the rpm’s are and go from there. I do not have poles but I do have agm batteries in the back and a lithium in the starboard compartment. Boat definitely needs a little more bow lift.

my friend has a 2007 puma with a new 250 mercury pro xs. setup like yours (3 12″ graphs, 112 ultrex, poles, livescope and mega 360) he runs a 24 fury.  he sent it in to Croxton for extra PVS holes added to aid in summer time holeshot and Croxton doctored it up for a bit more lift. itll run 73-75 with 500 lbs of angler, full wells, all compartments full of tackle.

he previously ran 26 and 25 furys with his 250 Merc Racing optimax
