Just saw where a local marina is going to carry non ethanol 91 octane fuel and cant remember Mercury recommendation seems it is not 91 but just regular anyone know off the top of their head? Thanks
Finally, someone with real knowledge tellin it like it should be ! Thanks Sherm, ive been trying to tell my friends that,,,,,, all i run is 91/92 octane ethanol free gas,,,,when i can.
Just make sure you have access to the ethanol free full time. Mixing non-ethanol fuel and fuel with ethanol is bad news. Boat U.S. and other publications have done extensive research so there are articles out there to read if interested. You are probably in the same boat as we are in central Vermont. The only non-ethanol fuel is the 91 oct that comes out of Canada. Thats where our marinas and a few others on Champlains fuel comes from. It aint cheap running 30 – 40 cents more per gallon. I run the 87 treating with Quickleen and Startron fuel treatments as did the previous owner. No problems so far and got 150 hours out of the original spark plugs. I did change fuel lines, change fuel filters every year, and fill with premium (with ethanol) for winter storage. If non-ethanol fuel was available widely Id buy it too but its so hard to come by in NY/VT that Im reluctantly sticking with the ethanol stuff. If 15% starts showing up around here, that would change everything but I dont see it happening to any serious degree.
