An 18 foot boat and a single transducer (if its possible to share one) means you are fishing a long way from the image you are seeing. I would definitely use one transducer at the TM and another for the console. Also, as to your power wire concern: using the old wire to pull the new one (if it has to be upgraded) should make the job pretty straight forward. Others will have to chime in on your other concerns.

If you decide to shoot thru the hull at the rear. You will need a puck style transducer with a external temp probe.as far a power source you need a minium of 10 gauge wire to carry the voltage. Unless youre talking about the side imaging units, the transducers you have for the 520 and hds5 will work with the newer units. If you get the “Ti”, get the head unit only and it will come with the adaptor to go to the blue connection. If you get the one with the transducer, it is a different plug and youll have to purchase the adaptor to use the current transducer. If you go with the SI unit, it will have a separate SI transducer that will mount close to the center of the transom. Some put it under or on the side of the Jackplate, just make sure the motor, when trimmed down, will clear it since they are long.
