2013 P4 Tilt helm pump leaking? 6 inch stain on carpet under console

The fittings are set and sealed by Teleflex. We do not turn them. Our suggestion is to look at the leak area and see if there is a Teleflex Service Center in your area. The carpet should need replacing.

Each hose has a fitting that goes into an elbow, and then the elbow connects to the pump. Usually it is the fitting from the hose to the elbow that leaks. After you wipe away the oil from the pump and hoses, if you create some pressure in the steering system, you should be able to see where the leak is occurring. In any case, as BCB suggests, it is best to have a pro do the repair.

I got under the console again after wiping the pump. It looks like the hose on the left is still wet with red fluid. The hose cover ribs are full of fluid. I undid the hose clamp and pulled the cover back its wet inside the hose cover as well. The brass fitting seemed tight though? I will have to take it in anyway to have it fixed and fluid added and bled I suppose.BCB. How do I go about the carpet replacement? Its all under warranty at 6 months old?

This needs to be done through either a dealership or Teleflex Service Center, depending on the issue. The most common we see is the connection to the slave pump which is set on an angle. If its the actual hose fitting, then its all ours and a dealership is the answer. DO NOT TURN ANY HOSE CONNECTIONS OR FITTINGS! Lets get it figured out as to what is leaking then we know wo will need to be involved on your warranty. BCB

I will take it in but it will take a couple weeks unfortunately. I have turned the motor back and forth many times but see no more leaks. I know it leaks due to the fluid on carpet,seat, and pump. I wonder if the motor tilted up while trailering caused more pressure? Additionally this happened while trailering only. The boat wasnt used for a week before pulling it to get the powerpoles installed. I also can see the fluid level in the clear hose from under the console. Its about an inch below the fill cap currently. I can also move the motor about a half inch by hand by grabbing it and pushing left and right. Is this supposed to happen or no? Im taking it to a dealer but Im just trying to learn more.

This seems odd doesnt it? Did they pull motor off to do the brackets for the poles? Have you ever used the boat- I get that impression? Although you say its 6 months old also. I would get someone to turn the wheel while your upside down looking under there or you turn it and watch.C.O.D. Jr. III

You may not notice it under static pressure, though only under operation as pressures are greater then. We are puzzled that there is fluid in the fill hose and you have that much of a leak?

Yes I have used the boat some. Motor has about 8 hours in it. I wash a wipe boat after each use so I know it wasnt there after I used it last week. It stayed in the garage until I pulled it 3 hours it sat for 24 getting poles installed then 3 hour trip home. I noticed the red fluid on seat first when u out it in garage and wiping it down. Then saw round wet spot in carpet and looked under console and saw fluid on pump. There may be a little more than an inch gone but its not like its half missing from the fill tube either. I understand about more pressure on system from running motor which has me curious how it started just while towing. I use the standard moter toter that runs to the trailer. Of course while towing you get the moter jiggle when you hit a rough spot but no more than usual with my previous cats. This is the first steering problem I have had through 7 years and 4 basscat all with the same steering.

Ward, it was the powerpole brackets that mount on side of jack plate so they didnt have to remove the motor.
