They are the identical hull, so performance is the same, especially if you upgrade the second tank in the AE (10 gallon) to the 26 gallon, so that the fuel capacity will be the same as the FTD. They both have rear tanks. Storage areas are identical, but the lid on the front compartment of the FTD is split. Expect mid to high seventies with a load, and higher lightly loaded and depending on driving skills. Here are most of the differences, and some of these on the AE are upgradeable. Hope this helps. The 204″ hulls are all the same, only top cap differences. The AE is a bit less bling, and for most is all the boat they ever need ! Imho, its a bit faster than its brethren, and also more affordable. With the 250 its more than most can handle unloaded, but tournament ready will push upper 70s easily if set up properly. A 225 also runs really good on this boat. The only thing I missed on my Cougar AE was the net storage,,,,,,,

Thanks everyone. I did go to the BC website and only found what standard options are on both but never found a comparison on both. I am aware of the differences in bling and options but I wanted to know the differences in the FTD and AE on front deck width size. Are they the same width size?Also on the webpage for the AE is has a weight listed at 1835# and the FTD at 1765#, is this correct and if so where and why is the FTD so much lighter if they are the same boat but the AE has less options and bling?Last edited by 1bassfan on February 24th, 2015, 10:17 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I know some of the storage lengths listed on the site are off by almost a foot. Different people measuring with differing abilities to read a tape.Dan

We will always verify lengths upon request. The weights tend to vary, plus the AE models have petition boxes which weigh slightly more.
