Hi everyone, just bought a 2015 Caracal and was wanting to purchase a rear drop in storage bin for my boat. The one that goes behind the passenger seat. I called bass cat and they said they do not sell the bin. Does anyone here know where I can find one?
Thanks a lot!
We can sell the bin, and it was in the boat originally. We would think someone used it for a storage box in their garage.
The bin is not sold openly, though it certainly could be. We haven’t had to sell one as they aren’t an option and come standard.
Contact Parts again and let them know the online Admin last night indicated that the bin could be sold for $235 in gelcoat, with lip trim exterior painted and complete.
You may have to cut the latch pawl slot.

Just a side note, in 2015 BCB made two sizes of the drop in bin. One was a shallow bin the other a deep bin. It depended on where you had the power pole pumps placed. If they were under the bin area, then the shallow one would work. I had my pumps moved back out of the way, and Sherm got a deeper bin for my 2015 Caracal.
Hmmm, didn’t know there were two different depths of bins. I have a 2020 Caracal and just ordered poles. I was planning to put under that pull out bin as I thought that was why it is designed that way. Bin is pretty deep. I never really looked under the bin to see how much room there was and now I’m worried. The boat is in storage an hour away so I’ll have to wait to check if there is room under there. Billius, where did you move the pumps to? How much room will I need for pumps. PP are new 8′ blades.
I am planning/hoping to put my PP pumps in the hidden bin at the very back, driver’s side of my 2020 Caracal. I think originally, the oil tank was installed there when using a 2 stroke motor.
I have a 2018 Caracal, My pumps were located in the rear drivers side compartment where the oil tank was located before 4 strokes. I have a SHO. Locate the pumps there and you can have the deep bin.
Bassinman2002 You answered the question I came on here to ask. Took a close look at things today on my 2020 Caracal. There is less then 2″ under the pull out bin in my boat and doubt PP pumps would fit under there. I haven’t checked the dimensions yet (poles on order) but I can’t imagine they are that thin. With that rear compartment going unused and so handy, seems like perfect place for pumps. BTW – are PP pumps/tanks submersible? Had looked at putting pumps in front of cranking battery (have 24V TM) but wasn’t sure if water got in bilge (yes I’ve left out the plug before on the Classic, not the Caracal. Yet…..) if that might be a problem especially when my auto bilge pump has not worked since I got it. My understanding is water can get in the hidden compartment originally for oil tank but not a lot. That said, any reason a hole or two could be drilled in the bottom so any water that gets in from backwash or whatever can drain into bilge?
BTW – When we go to install PP, I may be back with questions! If anyone has installed them themselves and want to share helpful hints I’m al ears….

When you install pumps, make sure that you include a master switch to cut off power to them so that there is no battery drain when you are not fishing. You also would not want them to deploy accidently while you are going s=down the road!
If I hook into the main bus breaker already in place and if it’s turned off, won’t that shut power off to PP’s?
Yes, though we add the other switch for safety. We have seen them deployed in garages, into family standing behind the boat and of course hitting a fob in your pocket while traveling.
Checked store for the switch but didn’t see it. Maybe I can get from Paul, got to get over there for gear oil anyway. BTW – BCB store shows all the Pro-Tec products but the polish. Is it no longer available? I need a lug nut for this wheel too.
If you are talking about connecting to the 25 amp main breaker, that is probably not a good idea. That breaker is intended to protect the boat’s harness and a few low draw accessories, and is sized so. Power poles each require a 40 amp breaker/fuse. Best idea is for the poles to be on their own circuit, with dedicated circuit protection and an on/off switch connected to the battery. Easiest way is to use the 40 amp fuses and tie their power into a switch something like a BEP 701 or a Perko battery switch.
Thanks Catdude. Looks like I got some shopping to do. As far as wire to the switch from battery, can cut a piece from wire that comes from pump or should a heavier gauge be used? I’m assuming both wires go into same switch and then put a fuse/breaker in each line between switch and pumps. This is my first time using PP’s. This switch will be the 3rd switch back there. Previous owner also put in a Perko switch to turn off power to most everything while charging cranking battery plus can turn switch to pull off TM battery should crank battery die. I routinely turn both switches to off when I come off water.
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the replies! I am actually getting bass cat to custom make me a drop in bin as they stated in the comment above. They didn’t ask what depth I wanted when I spoke with them on the phone. I’m okay with the deeper one since I dont currently have power poles yet. But there sure is a lot of room in the back. I’m running one lithium TM battery and that gives me a tremendous amount of room behind the bin to mount them. Also I still have a 2 stroke so on the drives side there is the oil in that hidden bin.
Schodackbassman – I had BCB install the pumps in the hidden compartment because I have a SHO and did not need a oil tank. I wanted to keep the large storage bin. I have a drain hole in the compartment along with a on/off switch hanging from the bilge compartment lip. I would not put the pumps in the bilge area. Also I got the extra PPole bracket to support the poles ( less vibration), Brackets run off the Atlas Hyd Plate. Hope this helps.
