250 XS

This year I am going to run a 250 XS on a 2008 FTD. I have always had a Yamaha up to this point so I have a few questions for Phill or some of the other Merc fanatics out there. What oil do you recommend, octane fuel, additives (ring free?) etc.... Any other tips on how to keep the engine in great running order?? Thanks.

Congrats, you are going to love that beast!!!!Prem Plus Oil, Quickleen (after you get out of breakin) and reg 87 octane fuel….then mash her down and hold on Judd Lasiter

If you have specific questions once you get it feel free to ask. Are you getting an XS vs. the Pro XS? The XS is about as reliable as they come. In addition, the yellow, orange, and red striping will set it apart from all others! With all said, Ive been satisfied with the Pro XS in comparison after running 3 250 XS engines.

Hey Phil…. Im actually getting a Pro XS… I should get my boat in the next week or two… Ill keep you updated on speeds, holeshot, etc. Thanks for the help. Mike

Mike,I believe you are in Missouri. I have a 250 Pro XS on my FTD; if you get up to LOZ and would like to see how it runs, let me know. Im on a hoist and ready to go…Earlier this week with 96% humidity, 86 degree air & water temp, and heavily loaded, I could still get 76+ mph out of mine on the GPS. They are very strong motors.Gary Hollander

Gary, thanks for the reply.. Is your FTD an 08? If I get up there in the next month or so we can run them side by side and turn some heads. I should have mine in the next week or two. Ben, better be gearing up for the Championship… Im swinging for the fence this year. Ill be glad to give you a ride in the boat. Im not sure if I will tow it down to Greers for the official practice days or not. Hope all is well with you and your family. Oh ya, good job @ Truman… I think you were in the top 5? Mike
