27 Tempest

Has anyone tied a 27 tempest on a 2003 FTD with a 225EFI? I currently have a 26 trophy I can run to the limiter and would like to try a tempest and wonder if a 26 or 27 would be better.

I tried it with my Puma and the speed was identical to the 26 but the RPMs were lower. It cut back on the hole shot so I kept the 26 on.

I used a 27 Tempest on my 03 Cougar FTD/225 Merc EFI and what a performer. Top speed was around 77 and loaded was 74. Turned 5700-5800 rpms.

Ive been thinking about posting mine for sale and you talked me into it. It is Tempest plus and is perfect. I purchased it on my boat in 2006 and am now running two Trophy props. I dont have a picture but it is like new. # on prop is 48-825868 27P.I would like to have $320 and I will ship to you.Let me know, Jim.Everyone should believe in something. Plugs will definitely help reduced ventilation, though we would add one large at a time, then try to go one small. If you can keep the large hole open, then you will usually gain hole shot.

My Cougar ran a few mph slower (about 77) and I was all over the rev limiter with that prop. Maybe a 28? Hole shot was good as I recall.

Mercury does not offer a 28 in the tempest but a 29 is available and was one of the props tested on the initial test run of the eyra. (SHO)http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishin … ic=74812.0
