3 blade to a 4 blade

Wanted some opinions, heres my setup…and question to follow…..2005 Pantera Classic2005 Merc 200EFI 2.5 liter26 Tempest Plus6″ slidemaster (manual)3 3/8″ below padfull gas, only myself and my tackle, empty livewell74 MPH +/-(GPS) @ 6200 RPMS WOT(no chine walk) 60 degrees and low humidity3-4 second holeshot (onto plane) with another angler and his gear, full livewell….70.8 GPS @ 6000 RPMS WOT(moderate chine walking) 6-7 second holeshot (onto plane) Seems I remember reading somewhere that when changing from a 3 to a 4 blade prop (they) recommend dropping a pitch, to get the same or near same RPMS and thus holeshot would improve. 1)Could someone give me some ideas to what I could expect with replacing my 26 Tempest plus with a 26 Trophy plus?2)In my situation, I am thinking, I need to stay the same pitch to drop my WOT RPMS and still have a decent or not better holeshot. Am I thinking clearly on this?3)Also, how would I need to adjust my jackplate, up or down? and by what increments?4)Could someone rewrite my situation with partner as stated above but with using a 26″ Trophy Plus?

Here is what the switch did for me.03 Sabre 150xr6 w/ 25 Temp. Plus @ 6100 rpms w/ one person 68.9 gps – 2 people @ 5800 rpms about 66 gps.Switched to a 24 Trophy plus @ 6250 rpms 68 gps and 2 people it ran better at 6100 rpms 67.2. The Trophy definately carried the load better than the Tempest with my boat. I did lose about 1 mph with one person, but it runs better with the Trophy when Im carrying a tourny load. It is also easier to drive with the trophy. Maybe this will help. If it were me I would try the 25 Trophy in your situation first. I also had to lower my motor when I put the trophy on because it lifted the entire boat out of the water not just the bow.

Rule of thump when switiching from a 3 to a 4 bladed prop. It takes more water for a 4 blade to turn so in most cases you will need to drop your motor a little bit when running a 4 balde. Sounds like both of you are getting pretty good performance out of your boats. Bulldog, if I were you I would try a 4 blade with the same pitch you are currently running. You should not loose much top end and will gain more boat control. I might lower the motor almost all the way down and then start coming back up until you reach the performance you are looking for. You might even have to play with the vent plugs and blow out a ring a little bit. I might try it with the blow out ring on and use the biggest vent plugs or none at all.
