36v Trolling Motor/Crank Battery Question?

Guys, I got my 06 Puma today and its a very nice rig… I have a couple questions…It has a motorguide 36v troller on it, and only 3 total batteries in the boat… So 2 are dedicated for the TM and the third is used to crank/run accessories and for the TM…Is this standard config on a BCB?Also, it has the Security System on it… How does that work?Sean (aka PumaBassXS)

We dont like to post that information here.Also the batteries are the BCB install with the cranking battery on the 36 volt set up. This will work great as long as you keep the batteries charged. Also be aware of possible fishing all day without running and having the LCRs on. More so with color units. Just jump on here any time and ask what you need.BCB

PumaBassXS,Ive run BassCats with the 3 battery setup for years, using both brand of trolling motors. Like BCB said, you must keep all three units charged, AND—Im also a firm believer that you need to run big batteries–all 3 of mine are 30-31 series Trojan SCS 225. I use a big deep cycle trolling motor battery as a cranking battery, and have NEVER HAD a problem running out of juice.The times Ive seen issues in other boats, I always found a 24 or 27 series cranking battery in the mix.Just my experience, over about 15 years.Enjoy a great boat, and the Family that supports them.Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN

Ditto what Mike said!Ive run three batteries in my P-III since 01 with a 36V TM set-up.The only wet-cell batteries I trust are Trojans.I run a SCS225 for the cranker/TM, and two SCS200s for the other TM batteries, though three SCS225s would be even better, depite the added weight.

Thanks for the info… Do you guys think there is enough room to add 1 more tray in there? I really prefer to run my big AGM battery for 1200mca and 200hours reserve and leave the TMs to just do one job…

You could add a 4th battery, but if you will get two 31 series for TM batteries, and you have a big AGM for a cranker, you should have no problem, again assuming you charge every thing properly.Mike Whitten
