Adding an HDS 8 upfront and had a question…..

In the well is preferred. Though RAM mount is a newer style also placing the RAM base in the well.

Mine is in the well and works well there. I think when you see one on the deck its because they have another one in the well. In the well it is out of the way of feet and rod butts.

Not sure what boat you have but on my 12 P-II my HDS-7 was tight in the well. Highly doubt a 8 will fit. I did move mine to a ram mount with the base of it mounted in the well.

Forgot to say, mine HDS-8 is on the RAM mount, 2″ ball, as well as the one on the console, so there is an easy switch out if I need to, and I like the ability to position the units where I want them. Or get them out of the way to do something.One thing I do is tilt them down if its raining because I still dont think Lowrance has solved the seal problem.

HDS-8 with a Ram D-111-U-C in the well. 3.68″ base, 4″ arm, 2.25″ Ball. Works like a charm. Identical to Jim Beavers.

How do you get nuts and washers on the back side of well? I tried and cant reach it in my P3.

Under the foot pedal looks likes an access hole with a plate over it. I have one from the factory.
