I have often wondered about that and watched a nice boat slide right off the bunks on to the ramp in cold weather. Water on the easy slide bunks froze and the rest is history. I have spent some time trying to master the drive on process and found that if you get the trailer depth just right it is easier.Good luck!

If you do this, dont unhook the front strap til the boats in the water and hook it up every time before you pull out. Have heard they are really slick and some have found this out the hard way.

Im thinking no more than youd have to buy, I wonder if you could use Trex instead of wood. Carpet it, and it wont ever rot. Trex is expensive but, you dont need that much & youll only have to buy it once. So over time, if you keep a boat a long time, it would pay off. i have my buddies back the whole trailer in the water at the ramp then pull the trailer out to where i need it so all of the bunk is wet, makes loading the boat a lot easier.

Back the trailer in until the bunks are completely covered by water then pull up to the sweet spot, which for me is the top of the rear fender. This has worked best for me. The boat will glide on noticeably easier this way.

My brother had those pads on his trailer bunks until his boat slid right off of his trailer as he was backing down the ramp. Luckily there were enough of us there to lift his boat back onto the trailer (aluminum bass boat). They go on easy and they come off easy too……sometimes too easy. I just thought I would pass this on if you were still considering them. Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
