advice for protecting trailer wiring from a chewing dog

My kids have a 9 month old white lab puppy that loves to chew on everything except her chew toys. Does anyone have any idea how to keep this dog from chewing the wires off my boat and my truck? I have replaced both the truck pigtail and backup camera wire, and the boat trailer pigtail twice. My daughters do not want the dog to go and she is the second best dog i have ever had, and i can never catch her in the act of chewing on the wires, but if she doesnt quit she has to go.If she doesnt learn!..Does anyone want a really good white lab?

BCB is correct ! We have a White lab- loved t.v.cables.Yellow lab- ate my lattice under my deck, twice !Choclate lab- ate all the insulation off a.c lines at my house and sons college renter.Black- ate just about anything in sight !BUT, they are all good dogs and love kids, so there,,,,,,keep the boat out of the dogs way ! p.s. pepper spray, tobasco, etc,,,didnt work for me,,,,,,sorry.

she got me friday night, had the boat all ready to go out saturday morning…. no lights! She has also took out my shop vac, my air compressor (hose and wire) my heat gun (think that was helped by one of the kids) 2 garden hoses and someones cat! ……. i am also missing one of my boots ………..

I dont have labs but i do have pointers and shorthairs. The only thing that worked for me is to run there butts off every other day. Go somewhere private let the dog out of the truck and drive. When you think there done go a little more. good luck

Sounds like you need to let the dog out of the garage ! I am on my third lab now the first one was black chewed up every thing. second one was yellow didnt chew up anything third one is one year old and she is a great dog. Good Luck

I feel for you, but like BC said thats life with a Lab. Our black Lab chewed everything she could get her teeth on for about a year and a half. Including the corners of the house and A/C lines going to the outside unit. My only advice is to fence off an area either for the dog or where the dog cannot get to.

Good luck with it stopping at 2 years, my 9yo lab chewed up my shop vac hose recently. Sometimes they grow out of it sometimes they dont. Good luck either way!JR
