They will work fine on AGM batteries. Our question is do you need AGM batteries on the trolling motor? If you can afford them easily and it is for your convenience, then go for it as they are your best option. No water to add, longer life on the trolling motor, longer life in the boat age and the only detriment is weight, well price also. BCB

I use a pro pack charger on my AGM AC Delco Voyagers ( 7 years old but no longer manufactured) and it works just fine. I do have a timer that charges all my batteries 3 hours in the morning ans 3 hours in the evening to combat parasitic drag from the motor. I do charge overnight before going and returning from the lake then I put on my timer. I will be looking for a suitable replacement AGM in the future.I hope this helps,GeorgeGeorge

Anyone have opinions on the OReilly AGM batteries? I need to replace my two trolling motor (MK Fortrex 80) batteries. Any better suggestions? Trolling motor just about died on us today and I stopped at OReillys to have them tested and was told they are bad.

Never used O Reillys batteries, used proguide in my last boat and they are great. About 200 each for group 31s.

I didnt buy them but wanted to get opinions. I plan on geting a larger Bass Cat soon but in the meantime I want to replace them with some good batteries but nothing outrageous in price.

The OReilly 31 AGMs that are priced at 224 dollars and 229 dollars are rebadged Deka Intimidators (9A31 and 8A31). The 8A31 is also available rebadged for Sams Club for 179 dollars. I agree with BCB that there is no need for AGMs for the troller.

If your saving change ($) here, then get the heaviest 27 series trollers you can find at the most reasonable price tag. They will work fine till you get the move up into a new rig.

By far the best bet is to call the manufacturer of the battery you are considering and ask them. They know which chargers support the correct charging profile for their batteries. Have your battery charger model handy and you will avoid an expensive mistake. I know of more than one that has fried AGM batteries with what turned out to be the wrong charger.
