We thought some of you would find this interesting, in that the bass boat market is holding the strength in the boating market. The boating market is taking a pretty good hit this past quarter. While the bass market took a hit last year, and the last quarter is on track with last season.BCB was up for 2007, and should be for 2008.BCBMarket OutlookBass boat market holding its ownBoating Industry Friday August 31, 2007MIAMI – The strength of the bass boat market may be keeping the industry from dropping further, according to Info-Link, which has updated its Bellwether Report through July. “Three of the biggest boating states, Florida, California and Michigan, have been a significant drag on the overall market numbers,” explained Jesse Wells, Info-Link director of sales & marketing. “One interesting thing we have noticed geographically is that the market is relatively flat in some key states such as NC, TN, AR, OK, MS and UT. A contributing factor may be that the bass boat market in particular seems to be holding its own in contrast to some other segments.”

Cali and Florida are also leading the housing slump. I guess its hard to justify a boat when your house is crashing — or you cant buy a house.

Same here in Arizona. Housing market is taking a dive. All the speculators came in drove up housing 300% in the last 3 years, now no one can afford a home. Those that special financed are losing homes due to reset of their loans. Michigans economy is getting hit twice as hard with the auto industry and the housing slump. I have definitely noticed the lack of current model year boats that were the norm at most regional tournaments 3-5yrs ago. Most guys that were on yearly boat deals are now still driving their 3, 4 or 5 year old boats.

smbassman, any helpful tips on fishing Muskegon Lake? I have a tournament there at the end of September and I dont have time to pre fish except the day before the tournament.
