The used boat market is extremely diverse now and there is a large variation in used sales time periods. It seems most of that is dependent on the sellers abilities and the methods used. It was once about 2 to 6 weeks, though right now it can be days or months.
IMO, it helps when seller lists price and if the sale will be direct or through a third party/dealership. Can make a big difference in price if your in a state like mine with 10.5% sales tax on new or dealer v/s tax on just the trailer if it’s direct from the seller.
Hope to be buying in the near future

You say the used boat, as in, the bassboat market, is extremely diverse now. I can only guess that part of the problem is the 70+ boats listed on BBC Basscat site not to mention what listed here could have something to do with it, and at that other used brands are out there in large numbers. And let’s not forget the new 4 stroke Mercury is having a impact on late model sales, but I will say I seen where “a” boat was sold off of “Impactfishing site recently. And that comment regarding a sellers “abilities and methods” I’m just wondering if that means just how much a owner is willing to lose in order to sell his/her’s boat! I doubt of any of us will open a used boat lot but there is a lot more going on than just saying that the market is diverse, it’s tough, a hell of a lot of product out there and a lot of choices!
In my experience selling several boats if it is in good condition, priced correctly and advertised properly it is sold pretty quickly. Guess which one of those three matter the most lol.

Absolutely, the dollar, regardless of how much or little rein’s supreme. But I’ve talked to guys who got some “Very Nice” boats listed here and else where. Haven’t even got a call!! I got one offer in January, some guy trying to steal it, turned him down!
This booming economy is allowing a huge pick up in sales of new rigs, but its flooding the used boat market at the same time. As Chuck stated, the new 4 stroke V8 is also impacting sales, as many want the new 4 stroke. I seen where one buyer decided to wait a few years till they become available on used rigs. The BBC boat sales page is an example of the used boat market, every manufacturers page is packed full of them.
So many things impact used boat resale, first: Cost, It is first reason for someone to keep scrolling to the next boat. Everyone has a limit to their budget or a value mentally set regardless of budget restrictions.
Next is color. Simple colors seem to sell the easiest. White, black, reds, and blues. Regardless, if the boat for sale is not the color a buyer wants, he will keep looking.
Electronics and accessories. I have seen nice boats that were priced well, but had Lowrance electronics instead of HB. So I immediately see another 2-3k dollars I have to spend. No power poles, another 3-4k. All this adds up to closing a boat sale on the used market.
Its a buyers market in used boat sales. The large selection of boats puts the buyer in the drivers seat. You will have to deal, or keep your boat.
New boats, the seller has the advantage due to the growing economy.
Just my take on bass boat resale during the flooding market.
My 2 cents… with Mercury now making 4 stroke only, 2 stroke Pro XS motors are going by the way of the dinosaur. Most hardcore guys want the 4 stroke. In Yamaha…it’s all you can get. Most who are willing to buy a 2 stroke know this and aren’t willing to take the sting of the depreciation. The sting needs to land somewhere. If you have a 2 stroke and want to really sell your boat, be prepared to deal down.
Bass boat buyers are a small pool of people. Add in all the different makes/models etc and the pool to buy your boat becomes even smaller. Few people are cash buyers, most must qualify and finance…pool down even more. I think you get the picture. So if you “get a bite” from someone interested now is not the time to play hard ball. Keep your line of communication open and think hard and careful before you say “No”. As cajunhunter67 ,said its a buyers market in used boats.
Your accessories aren’t worth what you think they are. Just like your truck or car accessories…If you pay $1000 bucks retail, it’s worth half of that…maybe. Same goes with anything else…a TV, Washer/Dryer etc. Savvy buyers know this.
Look…everyone has nice boats that’s for sure. If you are serious about selling, time of year doesn’t matter. Neither does how it’s advertised. My last three boats sold without advertisement because people know how well I take care of my boats and my pricing was spot on to move it.
I had this long post written up sitting on it. Honestly Cajun and 5 keepers took my words. Truthful and honest!
Location, colors, equipment, price, seller ability/reputation, all play.

I have sold 2 used bass cats in the last 5 years. One was a 14 year old Pantera Classic and One was a 3 year old Eyra. Both had buyers before I could even take calls once I listed them. I feel that it has a whole bunch to do with the area I live in. There are a ton of fishermen here in South La. Our young guns are mad at the bass and they are ready to buy. Also, we are lucky to live in a highly industrialized area which provides most here with a good income that allows them to make the purchase.
Good looking color schemes. Good pictures, reasonable pricing and of course people knowing that you take care of your equipment always helps. I even made a video and posted it for my last one and everyone that looked said that’s what sold them on wanting my rig. Good luck to all trying to sell. I know it can be frustrating.

A lot of us are in good, great areas! Myself in south central Missouri, Lake of the Ozarks, Truman, Table Rock etc. Color are a buyers call. Equipment! Most of the boats listed are all top of the line equipped. Price, I have mine listed with a OBO, which means we can talk!!! A sellers reputation and or ability?? What the hell does that mean?? This is not honest Phil’s or Chuck’s used boat lot! Most of the boat’s I’ve sold closed at my bank with a Notary Seal and titles transferred!
I personally have been looking for quite a long time, and I see all the boats with the 10-20k of added depth finders and other accessories that are pretty useless to your everyday fishermen, and the seller wants to get new prices for them. I see quite a few guys with new boats of every brand that don’t know how to work half the accessories on their new boats, and complain that it cost so much to buy them now. And when those same people try to sell them they are frustrated because they cannot get the premium dollar for the boat because only a serious tournament fisherman, or someone with a lot of time on their hands has the ability and time to learn and use all the extra functions a normal guy going out to fish with the family will never use.
Just my opinion

I believe a sellers reputation has to do more locally, everyone knows how well I take care of my boat. When I sold my Sabre I had multiple anglers post about my OCD and how I take care of my equipment. I have sold 3 Bass Cats, none lasted more than 3 weeks.
The Sellers ability is focused on his ability to deal. Some owners owe what they are asking and cannot deal. Some rigs are paid off, and the owner has the ability to deal as he see’s needed to move the boat.
The Eyra I purchased (2014 model) at the end of 2015 was used with 80 hours, platinum engine warranty. Totally loaded. Dual Power Poles. 1100 series HB’s, bow and console. Reverse lights on trailer……etc. 45K is what I paid. Most were 5-10k more than the one I purchased. I am very patient and will wait till the deal that I want becomes available. This is where the used buyers market is at right now.
I know if I wanted to sell my 2016 PII , I would have to take a hit on price due to the 2 stroke Merc on the back. Sucks, but its the downside of a new product coming out, and I have the recent model.
A lot of guys just can’t afford the higher end, top of the line, premium boat even in the used market one or two years old. Let that boat get 10 years old and In the 20 to 30K range and the number of buyers increase exponentially.
