that will be awesome for sure, bit of a haul from lake to weigh in site, but I guess might not be anymore than some of the other sites. you think some of the locals like Biffle , evers, Butcher are a bit excited?Treat everyday like it might be the last
Dont for get Edin Evers…he an Oklahoma boy too. He doesnt live too far Grand Lakes.
I may be wrong but I dont think they will really know the full field until after all the Elite and Opens tournaments are complete. There will most likely be some that double qualify and that will move the list on down. Hack is sitting at number 57 right now so its not really looking that good for him.The following is from bassmaster.com:Whos out … for now10:10 am EDT, Aug 10, 2013 | By Ken Duke If you take a look at the AOY standings late in any season, you see several big storylines. One is whos “in” — who is going to the Classic, who is in the hunt for AOY, who is having a career year, who is an up-and-comer. Then theres the whos “out” storyline, and it usually begins with whos not likely to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic. This year, there are several big names on that list. At the top is Michael Iaconelli, the 2003 Classic champ and 2006 AOY who sits in 49th place in the AOY standings. Hell need a top 12 finish at St. Clair to have any chance at the 2014 Classic. Hes made 12 straight Classics, but the string looks like its about to end.Things are even worse for Greg Hackney, who has a string of 11 straight Classics on the line. Hes currently in 57th place and will need to win at St. Clair if he wants to fish the 2014 Classic.Other notables who are almost certainly going to miss the Classic are Jeff Kriet (47th), Chris Lane (53rd), Rick Clunn (56h), Shaw Grigsby (58th) and Tim Horton (77th).Lane presents an interesting situation. Though he lives on Lake Guntersville, site of the 2014 Classic, hes a Florida native. The last chance any of these anglers will have to make the Classic comes in December on Floridas Lake Okeechobee, where Lane has won two Opens. Hes money on the Big O. Though the Elite Season hasnt exactly gone his way, the Wild Card tournament gives him another shot at the championship. Dont count him out!Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
After the last BASS open the field will be set, with exception of the winner of the BassMaster weekend series Natl champion which will be known after the 1st week of Nov.
Hack I believe is a very long shot. Will need to win a tournament to get in.
I would love to go but, I dislike large crowds. Lol13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
Just my personal opinion of course, but I went to the Tulsa Classic and wouldve liked to have gone to the lake to see the blast offs but just wasnt willing to make the 3 hour round trip. Looks to be about 3 hours for this years too.Last edited by Macsimus on January 5th, 2014, 2:46 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Im hoping to go, but I dont know for sure yet. I took my son to the Red River one and it was a blast. But he doesnt have off from school during the classic this year. Well see.
I am going…
Im going and going to the last day of weigh-in
I was supposed to be a marshall, but work got in the way. I will be on the water Friday and at the show Saturday. See ya there !
I went last year for the first time and wish I was going this year. I spent one day at the launch, one day at the show and weigh-in and the last day watching them fish from a boat. I saw lots of BassCats on the Grand Lake that weekend!
Theres two parts to this. Ive done both.(1) the outdoor show / weigh-in is a big production. And every one I have attended has lots of tackle makers, exhibits, fishing demos, something for everyone. The weigh-in generally (at least in the ones I attended) usually were packed. Lots of drama. Lots of “manipulation” I believe to order the boats to keep the suspense going. Etc. Also lots of boats on display, as well as the motor manufacturers as well.(2) the fishing. Ive launched EARLY a couple of times and followed my favorites around (Larry Nixon comes to mind). Stay far enough away to not affect their fishing of course. But lots of fun watching.I dont know if they still give away a boat like they used to when Ranger was the primary sponsor and Ray Scott ran things, but they gave away a boat that was identical to what was being used, AND the chevy truck to tow it home as well. AND enough cash (supposedly) to cover the income tax. Always the last thing before the winner is announced.Certainly worth doing if you know the water they are fishing and know of a good place to launch that is NOT the primary launch site. When they fished Lay and Logan Martin, I knew those lakes blindfolded and had a good time.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
The Bassmasters Classic is a must do destination for any bass angler. Everyone should go out of their way to see it at least once. As for the extras, there are some drawings and such, though it is different than years ago. The Expo is a shoulder to shoulder experience on Saturday and Sunday are packed. Friday is the best day to see the Expo. Classic weighins are long, and time consuming. They are a great experience that everyone should take time for also. This year it will under the cover at Minute Maid Park, and they are not sure how the stadium will be managed as turf access has limitations. On water will be harder as Conroe does not have a lot of ramp locations. BCB will be manning the ramp and dock at Inland Discount Marina, just past takeoff location. We suggest BCB owners use that ramp for a variety of reasons. There are many ramps on Conroe though there wont be on that side of the lake. Between Inland and April Plaza they will park about 150 total and we expect a full fleet at Conroe. We do have on the water demos set up, and you honestly cant miss us if your at the lake for takeoff. The Cat light will draw you in early. We feel we also have the best location to watch the weigh in if our interested in joining us there. Details will be forthcoming on the “Bass Cat Classic Experience”. We expect this years Bassmasters Classic to be by far the largest Classic ever. We honestly feel records will be set that are not going to be broken unless they come back to Texas. Lake Conroe offers us an opportunity that no other lake or previous Classic location has offered and we are all in on this one. We enlarged our booth space and we are putting it together, though our location is buried by the skywalk and concession stand. We have a full slate and multiple presences at this Classic. Overall the Bassmasters Classic is a huge affair and if anyone has not experienced it, you should. We hope to see you there!
