If possible, Id recommend going on that Friday as the crowds are not as big as they are on the weekend. Its much easier to navigate through the vendors on Friday and lots of goodies to be bought. Dicks Sporting Goods always has some sort of really good special on lures/rods/reels so make sure to go their first before they sell out and they will sell out quick!!!! One year they had the Rapala Scatter Raps on sale when they first launched, another year LiveTarget Sunfish, and so on. Every year, they sell out of that “special” in the first two hours on Friday. A lot of companies have started introducing new products at the Classic so consumers can actually buy them…….and at great deals!!! When Megabass came out with the S Crank, they sold like hotcakes at the Classic and gone by Friday afternoon. And then all the local tackle vendors there you can find products you may normally not see in other places. Also, many manufacturers do some cool things at the Classic. This year Shimano will spool up to 4 reels that you bring in with braid. Bassmaster.com and BassFan.com should have some of this info once we get closer. and then there is BassCat at show and on the water If youre only 3 hours away, its definitely worth the trip for a day. The outdoor show is great. Watching the weigh-in is a LOOOOONG process and a little dull after youve seen it once.
