Happy New Year Folks.Hopefully everyone is enjoying the clean crisp Canadian Air that is cooling things down ;-)Since the boat is tucked away in the workshop I have been looking into cut off switch system for the Talons that I will be installing on my PIV in March.I was wondering about what other Cats have installed.Do you use one or two battery cut off switches or relays for each of the Talons. Thanks for your help.PS I wonder if Lake Erie and St. Claire will freeze over this year. Grab your skates
When Im installing Talons are any accessory that has a direct draw on the battery I like to install a battery cutoff switch mounted beside the battery. This switch can come in two styles. One is a simple on/off switch that allows power to all accessories, including the outboard to be turned off (excluding battery charger) with the twist of a switch. The other is a battery selector. It can be wired in such a way as to use as a battery cut off, but can also be wired into a “battery 2” that uses the ground trolling motor battery. In that instance, the trolling motor battery can be used to “jump” the outboard if the need arises.John
Can you do both?
No reason to do both. The selector acts as a battery cutoff when you turn it to off.
I have dual Talons on my boat and they feed power through the small panel and switch that BassCat installs under the rear lid when power poles are installed at factory. In the unlkely event that one talon is having problems and I want to continue using the other one I can just open the lid and disconnect the one wire running to the switch panel.
Cut off/ selector ….. humm I will definitely check that out. Thanks JohnAny pictures of the installed switches?Stay warm
Sorry,no pictures available-boat is in Storage!
Dwayne, this is a picture of the one on my Puma. I have it attached to the aluminum frame of the battery hold down.

Can I replace this with the batter switch pictured above and then rewire to give me the option of having a trolling motor battery at hand to start the main engine if the need arises. Or, do I need both switches. Thanks.
Im not familiar with the 2015 power buss. My quick answer is yes, but I would like to see a photo of the power buss youre speaking of.
Hi…have somebody work the switch and follow the sound. You will discover it. Furthermore, Perry is most likely right. Mentors fluctuate, however the back run box is a possible up-and-comer. There are most likely a few transfers in there. On the off chance that you have to know which one, once more, have somebody work the switch while you feel for the “thump” that will affirm which one or ones that it is.
