2001 Pantera Classic w/ Merc 200 EFI with a BP2000 dash pannel. After I fish for a couple of hours and start my engine all my electronics turn off (Lowrance 510 up front and a 520 at my dash). I first thought I had a battery problem but this problem has occurred with every battery I have bought which include AC Delco Voyagers, Trojans and now the Cabelas AGM series 30s which I put in my boat 3 days ago. Also, my last Cabelas AGM starter battery died in 6 months (which Cabelas replaced for free) and I am sure my new one will do the same thing if I dont find this problem. All have been fully charged and verified before heading out. Obviously this is not a battery problem and feel that I might have something draining my starting battery but have no idea what to do to check. The only thing I can say that is out of normal is the BP2000 dash gives a default warning whenever I turn on my lights or run the bilge pumps, but I hear nothing running when I turn them off. Any ideas of what might be going on or how to isolate this problem? I dont believe I have a charger problem because I have checked to make sure it is working and I have supplemented my onboard charger with a portable one and have verified they both work. I have also had all my batteries load tested which they have all passed with flying colors. I have also verified that my engine is recharging my battery correctly, too. Thanks in advance for any help with this problem. It is a pain in the rump to have my GPS turn off every time I restart my boat.Last edited by TexCaboCat on November 28th, 2009, 5:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.God Bless, Stephen
I had the same issue with an 06 CougarFTD that I had. But…it didnt do it all the time, just every once in a while. Id like to know what a possible answer is too, in case it happens on the boat I have now or the Puma Im about to get.
This is driving me nuts. I have a buddy with the same batteries and battery charger as mine in a 2004 Cougar FTD and he has 3 color units including side imaging on his boat and does not have this problem.God Bless, Stephen
Any options on your boat that your friend doesnt have?
Only difference is he has the 225 Opti.God Bless, Stephen
I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH 07 COUGAR 225 OPTI 2 522 LOWRANCE UNITS I HAVE CHANGED BATTERIES WIRES CONNECTORS STILL HAVE SAME PROBLEM.
Battery issues can be frustrating, and you must reverse trace the problems to learn the source. It is usually a problem with a connector or a circuit breaker can also be at fault. The only breaker in line is the one at the battery and those are 20 Amp on most cranking battery leads to the main harness.
Im not positive, But I belive the Lowrance units need to be wired through a Master Power switch, so that when power is shut off the internal power at each unit is completly OFF. Just a thought. Hank
My Lowrances are wired through my master switch. Guess I will pick up a new breaker and see if that helps.God Bless, Stephen
