Battery life expectancy

I been running srm 29s for several yrs know. The ones Im running know Im on my 4th yr. Though one cant pinpoint how long. To many variables that determine the HOW LONG PART!. I will say the interstate wet cells are thirsty. They do like water. Ive always had really good luck with the interstate. Guess Im old school I probably wont never run a agm for the trolling motor. Though generally a failing wet cell battery give tall tale sign with their time is up. I always check the voltage after a charge. I would say about 2 years is the best you can hope for out of most standard batteries, I always got about 19-20 months with Interstates, they are the reason I went to Optimas years ago.

I have the same batteries as you. Group 27 Interstates. They are 3 years old and going strong. Keep them full of distilled water and they should last 3-5 years I would think. Ive always gotten 3 years and usually more. Dont recall going past 5 however as they begin to get weak, capacity drops, and TM speed declines. I fish 1-2 times per week for 9 months of the year, maybe once or twice a month Between December and end of Feb, depending on temps. My last set of deka 31s was 4 years old and still going strong. Ive bought the same ones for my new boat.

With regular maintenance and good charging habits, 3-5 years is average for a set of flooded deep cycle batteries. All other factors being equal, the most significant influence on life cycle is the depth of discharge to which they are repeatedly subjected to.

I personally will never have a wet cell battery in my boat ever. When it comes to old technology vs new. Im gonna pony up for the new every time.

The batteries last a term of between 2-6 years. Life is dependent on charging cycles, types of chargers, use patterns, when you charge and if you keep them wet. There is no standard answer, though is is estimated that you should be ale to charge a good set of lead acid batteries a range of between 500 to 1,000 cycles. We have seen less, though can not say we have seen more.
