Battery recommendations

I have been looking at BCs battery recommendations for a new crank battery for my 05 Pro XS 225. based on your post from 9/6/2008 the top rated ones are 1. Exide, 2. Odyssey, 3. Optima and 4. Cabelas. I had rather purchase from local company and both Odyssey and Cabelas would require shipping. I could not find a reference to the Exide Megacycle MC-31 or XMC-31. Do you know if this has been replaced with another model? I can find Optrima batteries several places so that would be OK just does not have as much power as some. I assume the AGM is the way to go and I would like to try those for a crank battery.

There are AGM batteries that Exide superceded the numbers with. We have not updated the list or tested those newer versions.

BTune, I bought a Sears Die Hard Platinum last year (31 series) for my optimax outboard, it is awesome! It is made for Sears by Odyssey! It is a beast, very heavy duty. 3 year warranty….it is very heavy with lots of marine cranking amps and reserve power. It cost about $250 but I dont think you can find a better battery with the specs and warranty this one has…..two thumbs up on this one!! Go to Sears and check it out

Odyssey wants 347.52 for the PC2150 so I am always open to saving a buck or two! The battery companies web sites are NOT very good. They should take a hint from the Basscat site! I know Sears changes who they get thier batteries from but one of these should be good for a few years. My AGM trolling motor batteries have been going for 5 years now.

Like he said;;;; go to Sears. Platinum maintenance free. 3 year replacement. Use them myself.
