I put the exact same battery in my 2007 P4 this summer. Great battery and yes it weighs a ton! I am running that battery plus 3 27s on the troller. It slows the boat down a bit but I can fish all day in current and wind with no problem. Electronic issues went away with this battery. I have a perko main cut off switch as well.

I LOOK AT THEM BUT PERKO STATED THAT IT WOULD BE PUSHING THE AMPS GOT SCARED. BOUGHT A GAMA CUT OFF SPOKE WITH THEM THEY SAID IT WOULD HANDLE THE AMPS WITH NO PROBLEM

Mike, I jut hooked up two talons to my 2008 Cougar. I jut got a disconnect from Napa.. It bolts to the top of your cranking battery and your talon screws to that .. when you want it off you unscrew it a turn when you want it on you turn it back in.. I used a wire tie to hook it there so It will not fall off and get lost.. I hooked it on the negative side for access and there was more space for it there.

NAPA, now thats a new one. We like battery terminal banana spades and this seems like a better twist to that.

I drilled a small hole in the plastic cap and threaded a wire tie down into it so I could secure it to the wire.. now it take half a turn to disconnect and the cap wont come all the way off and drop into the bilge.. They work great and can be used on either the positive or negative side of the battery.. color coded caps come for either side.

BCB,What is done at the factory when new boats are ordered with the main buss breaker? Is the motor hooked up to the switch or left on the battery?Mike

Mark5795 or anyone else.Did you hook up the talon alarm(s) to the ignition? If so do you have any tips? I havent looked under the dash yet to see what is there.Mike

I did not hook to the ignition did not feel the need to.. Alarm feature might be nice.. but I was fine without it.

I hooked up my alarm to my last couple of talons and I believe it was a purple wire under the dash . Just had to poke around with a tester till I found one on the run side of the switch. The 8 fter you could barely hear but the 12 is a little louder I think. Well see next windy day

If the boat has a separate voltmeter, you will find a purple wire at the voltmeter. Just connect a feed wire on the same terminal as that purple wire and run back to connect to the alarm wire on the Talon.Also, for a battery cutoff switch, I use this one. I make a bracket using a motor strap of a large starter (remember, I have a starter/alternator shop) that screws direct to the post on the battery and the switch bolts to it. Then all wires that I want to “cut off” goes to the other terminal.
