Brief history, I have a new Sabre FTD and the last couple of times that I have taken the boat out I keep getting a “low battery voltage” message on my Hummingbird 788 when I start the motor. I charge the batteries every time I get home from fishing and prior to going out, I leave the charger on until I get three green lights on my 3 Bank Pro Pack III Charger.1. Should I leave the charger on after I get three green lights or will this cook the batteries? It wont do any good as when the green lights come on the charger is suppose to be shutdown. You might want to connect them to an alternate charger.2. Is there maximum amount of time that a battery should be charged. Batteries should be fully charged within 8 hours.3. If Im ever in the situation where the crank battery will not start the motor can I simply use a pair of jumper cables and jump off of one of the trolling motor batteries? Yes I realize that I would have isolate one of the trolling motor batteries from the other so I will only be feeding 12 volts to the motor. You dont have to do that. Just make sure you jumper cables are on the same battery. Does a deep cycle battery have enough cranking amps to start the motor in an emergency situation? YesThanks for the help- JoeIn addition to the answers above you may have a bad connection at your electronics which are giving the low voltage reading. Check to see where you have your low voltage alarm set on your electronics and move it to a lower setting.
