BAY CAT ? for BCB

BCB,I know the BAY CAT has a 20" transom but I was wondering if I wanted to run a Yamaha 4-Stroke 250 in a 25" shaft would it work? Would I have to go with a Hydraulic jack plate? Is that recomended? Any performance numbers on the BAY CAT with the new Yamaha 225 Sport 4-stroke with the 20" shaft? I dont want to under power the boat and was leaning toward the 250. Also, can I only color the boat with the solid gel colors?Thanks,Chet

No 25″ shaft.No hydraulic plate needed.Any gel coat color available. 225 would be the minimum hp that I would put on one, but thats me. Ive seen some with 200s. A 225 will get a top end speed in the low/mid 60s. 4 stroke Yamaha will be a little slower.Edited by BCB:Yes you can run a 20″ shaft and you should run a hydraulic plate on that set up, though you dont have to. It is not in Flake, though stripes can be on the sides with flake trims. BCB

I recently noticed that Yamaha came out with the new 225 4 stroke Sport motor that comes in a 20″ shaft. Looks like it will be perfect for this setup. Really want to run a 4 stroke. Will be used in Bays and the Gulf of Mexico. A lot of trolling and low rpms. Phil do you know if this boat can take 2 to 3 waves and stay on plain?Anyone had this boat offshore in rough water?Thanks,Chet

Bay Cat at the Dealer meeting had a 250 HPDI and DJ and Mike @ Big D Outdoors in Vidor, TX took that boat. I know only because DJ and I spoke about it.Really cool boat, I was surprised with its feel but that is only the 3rd CC boat I had ever been in.Judd Lasiter
