I want to try and find a solid replacement for the padded part of the seat. I know they make solid ones so I will quit tearing it.

Instead of vinyl? Those are made in house at BCB.

Yes I have a buddy with one and his is solid on his bay boat, looks like the same post but the leaning part is made of a hard plastic. It still flips for storage.
