Best over-all performance for 06 Puma w/225 Merc Pro xs

Bill, I own the same rig and motor you have. The 26 Trophy seems to be the best all around prop for your boat. The 27 Tempest will make it run just a little better on top end or it does on mine but that 4 bladed prop seems to be what everybody is running. Just seems to make the boat set up a little better and expecially in rough water. I have my jack plate about 1/8 ” jacked up for the 4 blade 26 but can come up a little higher when running a 27. I run a pretty heavy load in mine though. The best speed I have seen is with the 27 tempest and that was about 74 loaded. Can run my 26 Trophy about 72 with a heavy load. One thing I do not have on mine that you have is the hydrolic jack plate. You should see a little better numbers being able to change your on the fly. Good Luck and hope that helps. JW

Thanks J.W. for the info. I just ordered a 26 pitch Trophy . I should receive the prop early next week. I am looking forward to see how my new rig will run with the trophy. I also have a friend who has the 27 tempest. I will also give that prop a try. Ill let you know. Thanks again for your help.
