Bilge pump wiring??

I checked my Livewell system the night before a tournament this week during prefishing and in my checks I noticed my livewell fill (Freshwater) pump was not coming on...I got the problem narrowed down to a green ground wire running from the pump to the switch...I ran a jumper basically from the Switch across the deck and into the well to the pump and it worked...It was getting dark so I ran it like that for the tournament...When I got home I checked the original green wire with an ohm meter and it shows OL.....My questions are....Is this wire ran directly to the switch or is there a terminal someplace?? If it is ran directly to the Freshwater livewell switch can I use the old wire to pull the new wire through or is the harness taped or Zip tyed off under the cap??? What guage wire is that Pump wire?? It looks like 16 guage...Thanks for any help....I felt stupid having to run the wire across the back deck but when your running out of daylight and your tackle all needs to be retied and organized you have to get ready to compete at some point...It just seems strange to have a wire just fail like that...I thought it may be the connections but I cut them off and checked with bare wires.....It is on a lightly used 97 jag.....The big water may beginning to take its toll...Thanks again,Brian...

On a 97 Jaguar the switch is a manual through a breaker on the panel usually. There were not many Pump In and Pump Out systems in 1997, so we are suspect as to which protection you have, though the switch is probably the culprit and those are a McGill switch. The newer Carling would be the replacement.

My setup has the panel with the livewell pump out and freshwater fill switch…There is a push button reset breaker on the panel….The reset breaker appears to be for both the pumpout and fill..The pumpout works fine….I ran a new wire (green) temporarily from the Switch across the deck to the freshwater fill..That allowed the freshwater fill pump to operate correctly..It would turn on and off with the switch….I checked the switch with my ohm meter and seemed to break on and off correctly..(I checked that up north)…I read OL on my ohm meter from the green wire from the switch and the Green wire on the pump…(even after removing the terminals)I just want to make sure there isnt a terminal issue or something else before I just pull a new wire through to the pump….It appears to me that the Ground ? (Green) wires for the pumps run directly to the switches without a terminal but I just wanted to verify so that i dont jumper something out and create other issues…..
