Hi guys, does anyone have a good guess what the total weight of a 2013 P4 and trailer. I just got a new to me boat puller and have to get the receiver and ball for the new truck. Also is 18 to 20 in. still good for ball height? By the way, new truck is a 2013 Raptor with the 6.2 . I think it should pull the boat pretty good. Thx. Ed
The 6.2 will have no issue jerking the PIV down the road. My sister has an F150 Limited with the same engine. Its a beast.
I would back the truck up to the boat. Use the trailer jack to raise the boat slightly above level. Measure from the tongue of the trailer to the center of your receiver. That will be close to the drop you need. The rear of the truck will squat slightly with the boat loaded, so keep that in mind. The closer you can get the trailer to being level or slightly above, the better it will pull and trailer tire load will be equal.
Make sure your straps on your winch and rear tie downs for the trailer are not dry rotted. That raptor will probably jerk the trailer out from underneath the boat lol! On a side note. If your new rig has the grab post and step. Be careful you can hit your tailgate if its down when making sharp turns. Congrats on the p4 they have a very cult like following.
Thank s everyone, I just needed the weight of the boat to know what rating I needed for the ball. I had the P4 since new in 2013 and would not trade it for anything. It handles everything you could possibly throw at it with ease. Thanks to Basscat for making such a great boat. One last question , the ball size is 2in. Correct? Thanks. Ed
