Topic: Boat Insurance ?

I checked the FAQ section about this and the information there is rather dated ... so. Recently I sold my 2017 Eyra, I called my insurance Co. to cancel my boat policy. No problem there however I was told that there was no refund forthcoming even though the policy was paid until late August and there was no claim involvement at all for the past two years. The company is Allstate Insurance Co. and no, they won't be writing any more insurance for me, but has anyone else have this happen to them??

I would check with your state insurance board. That doesn’t sound right.

Chuck…first off congrats on the selling of the boat!

It depends on how they are filed with the state. Most companies return the unused portion of the premium. Some have a cancellation fee. Others keep it. It all depends. You can check with another Allstate representative or call your department of insurance. I hope Allstate returns the unused portion to you.

Thanks for the kind words. Talked to the home office in Chicago, no prorated refund! Have yet to talk to the Missouri Insurance Commission Office but I will and keep you advised, Thanks again.

I wouldn’t be happy with that but then again, the refund probably wouldn’t amount to much anyway. I’ve been with Boat/US since 96, never an issue. No deductible after so many years of no claims. Rates are competitive and all they insure is boats. The one claim I filed many years ago went super smooth and easy. Dealer/repair shop and BoatUS worked everything out, I didn’t have to do a thing. Check them out. Oh BTW, they answer the phone too. Rare to be put on hold, at least before this Covid-19 thing. I haven’t called in years.
