Randy:If youre going to purchase a seat from BassCat, I would recommend the Timpress seat over their Venture fold-down model. I chose the Timpress because it has a strap and snap to hold the seat in place while folded down in transit. The Venture has what I consider an inexpensive locking mechanism located in the fold between the seat and seat-back. If you tried to pick up the seat by the back portion while it was folded, it looks like the lock could get broken. I feel both seats are equal for comfort. I dont know the age/weight of your dad, but Im in my sixties and weigh around 300 and it supports me very well. Everyone that has used the seat has commented how comfortable and easy it to fish from the seat. Best of luck on your seat hunt.
