Boat trailer wiring / electrical advise needed.

Recently I started having trouble with my right tail light (Large red LED) and the adjacent small white corner light intermittently not working.   I have discovered that once the wiring is submerged in water after launching the lights work for the rest of the day.   I have also discovered if I take a large cup of water and douse the wiring in that corner that after a few minutes the lights work also.   I am planning on disconnecting the wiring in that corner this weekend and reconnecting everything with fresh connectors.  I am guessing that the connections are somewhat corroded and when they get wet they are conducting current better. Now I am not an electrician... but does this make sense to anyone who knows a lot more about this than me?   All other lights on the trailer consistently work all the time.  It is only those two lights that are intermittent. Any thoughts or advise is greatly appreciated.
