Bob’s hydraulic jack plate stickin in highest position

I have a 2023 PUMA STS with  a 250hp pro XS. 20hrs on the engine. I fished a tournament yesterday and needed to raise the plate a few times to get into some shallow areas. When getting ready to leave the area the plate would not lower. I can hear the pump running when I hit the lever, but it was very reluctant to lower. After a few pumps of the lever, it would eventually go down. I just kept it in the lowest position the rest of the day so I could get on plane with a heavy tournament setup.

I did see a few drops of red fluid on my garage floor, under the engine area, and I’m wondering if there is a hydraulic fluid leak in the system.

im taking it to my dealer, but would like to know your experience. Thanks.

I am interested in knowing about this as well.  I have a Bob’s coming when my new Puma is delivered.

I have same setup and was told that the Bob’s jp has a tendency to stick if it is not greased pretty often. It has fittings for greasing but the Power Pole brackets are in the way, so I just put good marine grease on the rails and run it up and down a couple times. You could have a bad seal if fluid is leaking.

I had the same issue with my bob’s earlier this year. The top seal on lift cylinder had popped out. I reached out to bob’s and they took care of me immediately by sending me a new assembly. Your dealership should take care of you

Good company, good people and they will try and take care of you. We use three jackplates and the choice is yours.
