The plate should be run up slightly to come out of the hole, then lower the engine and run it lower when on top end. Engine height is all about steering torque on top end and if you have more than slight torque you are too high. It should pull only slightly right and not to where it’s hard to hold left. If the forearm arm is really tight trying to hold the steering wheel, then it’s too high on the plate.
You don’t have any way to use water pressure as the front have lots of pressure on that engine. The gauge doesn’t give you feel, and that is how you set up the plate.
