BP-Dash Assemblies info and HELP!

Folks! There are four different BP Dash asemblies in boats out there. The one we would be most likely to desire a replacement on would be the BP-400 model. This unit works fine, though has it's glitches. The BP-2000 also is a candidate for a replacement if you are having trouble. The BP-100 and BP-101 Super Dash we would not replace ourselves. The dependability rate on these units remains to be strong. The 100 units is the lesser of these, though the BP-101 is a wonderful unit and one we would keep and upgrade if need be. The root of the problem is finding a Technician capable of researching what is going on with your unit. That being a mechanic who can find the errors. Southwest Electronics will refurb the BP dashes. Things like temp probes, compasses and pumps must be repaired on the BP-101 and 100 dashes for continued reliability. These Units have a function internally which regulates the amperage window of operation. If your stern light is not in, you will get a fault code.If it burns too many or too few amps, you will get a fault code. A poorly operating aerator or bilge will also show a fault code. So our suggestion to all of those with these units, is to clean your connections, terminal blocks, end slices and all. Repair those faulty pumps, replace, repair or disconnect those temp probes that don't work, replace or repair your sending units for fuel gauges and get he parts in order. AND OF COURSE check you trim sender for signal to the dash. Check our your Security System and function it. Hold the node and check the hours. Reset the MPH and clean the piitot tube first. Then determine if you need a dash worked on. We find about 20% today actually have a problem. Especially if your trim gauge is not working. We understand this is a hard piece of equipment to diagnose, though do so and you will have what still is a state of the art dash. They all remain to be way less trouble than the few thousand Pre '93 model (88-92) Pantera II and Sabres with McGill Switches, Potentiometers, ETA Circuit Breakers and yards of wiring looped confusingly. Which is why we changed to a more costly set up which worked differently. Thanks, BCB
