Brake brake away ?

My brake away cable was still hooked up the other day when i pulled away from the boat. The cable was pulled out of the assembly. The brakes are not engaged now. Is it save to operate this way? I realize i will not have brake away brakes . Thanks Arthur

Be absolutely sure that the brakes are disengaged and you released them by depressing the tab and being sure the coupler is not under pressure.

if so then yes, though to be legal in most states a emergency cable is required.
