In an earlier topic I was asking about what prop to use on my 2018 Eyra. I have a Merc250 pro 2 cycle. BassCat, you mentioned extensive testing was done on this combination and recommended a Fury 25 was the go to prop. You also recommended a Bravo, but what pitch worked best. As expensive as these props are I want to get it right the first time. I am interested in a 4 blade, either Bravo or Fury but Mercury says there is a 2 inch pitch difference and that gets confusing. Any help is really appreciated, Thanks in advance.
I ran a Bravo 1xs on both my 13 Puma and 18 Lynx. I ran a 25 fury 3 on the Puma, tried a 26 Bravo, and was on the limiter, needed a 27 or 28 Bravo. Ran a 24 fury 3 on the Lynx, the 26 Bravo has been perfect for that boat. Whatever even pitch is good on your Eyra, go up two for the Bravo. If you get into the odd number and half pitches, talk to BassCat, Mercury, or Ronnie Gilbert! This is because of the way merc builds them, a 25 Bravo is a 24 with cup added. I ran a Fury 4 on both boats as well, just run the same pitch as your Fury 3.
I ran a 27 Bravo XS on my 17 Eyra. Pretty good performance and loved the way the boat drove with this prop. No poles but always a heavy load in the boat. Holeshot was ok but everything else was great. Are you running a hydraulic plate?
With a heavy load I was barely breaking 6,000 rpm so felt like a 26 would be perfect.
I have an Atlas hydraulic plate, no poles on back.
Mike, between the Bravo and Fury4, what did you like better?
I liked the Bravo 1XS the best, you dont here near as much about failures like you do on the Fury 4. The Bravo has been the best prop on my Lynx.
Can you elaborate on what you said about failures on a Fury 4?
I will like Mike reply on Fury 3 issues but if you hold the Fury and Bravo both in your hands there’s no comparison in the quality IMO.
* meant to say Fury 4 issues
Fury 4’s are known to sling blades/ears. I had a bravo 26 xs on my 2021 eyra and enjoyed it – with the 4s. Topped at 75.4 with just me. I went back to the fury 3/24 as it seemed over all a little bit better speed wise loaded. Keep in mind thats on a 4s. I would think you would want a 26-27 but id do some research on it. bbc boards might get a few more comments.
I have not been around enough to hear any of that. But, I am hoping BCB will offer an experienced opinion on the Bravo for best tested pitch. It costs a lot of money and if you get it all wrong and have to send a prop back, well!
I have a 17 Eyra, Mercury 250 Pro XS. I run a 27p Bravo XS in the winter and a 26p Bravo XS in the summer here in SE Texas. I’ve run the Fury 4 25p and 26p also, prefer the Bravo. I recently installed lithium’s for my 36v trolling motor and most likely will run the 27p year round now. You’ll lose top speed but I’m happy with my hole shot, great mid range, and it’s great in rough water. I’d like to try a 28p Bravo in the winter months now that I have lithium’s. I fished a tournament Saturday and temp was in the 60’s, both fuel tanks 3/4 full, livewells full, holeshot was very good. Lithium’s helped my hole shot a lot. My boat is heavy, dual power poles, dual console, stereo, 36v Ultrex, Mega 360, way too much tackle.
As far as the 26p vs. 27p Bravo XS, I can’t tell a huge difference between the two. I’m not sure where you’re located but if you’re around Houston message me and you are welcome to try one of the props. I ran a tuned 28p Bravo XS for a short period, as in less than a day, before I ruined it on a stump a couple of years ago. It was fairly hot outside, in the low 80’s, so the hole shot was terrible but I had bought it for the winter months only. Mid range was great and top end appeared decent but overall too big for most applications I think. I’d love to try it now in the cooler months with lithium’s.
C130, that is really good information thank you. I am in Florida, but thanks for the offer!
We believe the Bravo propellers are rated to 650 HP.
