I HAVE OUTLETS EVERY 6 FT….U CANT GET ENUF LIGHTS…..PLENTY OF SHELVES… I HAD A SET OF STAIRS BUILT TO GO UP TO 2ND FLOOR THAT I USE FOR STORAGE.BETTER THAN A PULL DOWN…I DONT HAVE CEILING FANS”GOOD IDEA”. IT GETS HOT IN THE SUMMER, MAYBE A WINDOW UNIT WOULD HELP. MINE IS SEPARATE FROM THE HOUSE……. LAST BUT NOT LEAST,, U CAN NOT BUILD IT TOO BIG…. A WIFE WILL FILL IT UP.. ROBIN

1st-BIG,then make it bigger than you think youll need. Hot/cold water faucets, floor drains, high ceiling, dehumidifier, floor coating, double door. Oh and did I mention to make your garage BIG. Hope that helps. John

I would put outlets every 4 feet or so, if building codes allow. Also, I would stagger them, some low and some higher. I would see if a rail system could be installed in ceiling so that a hand held shop light with extension could be moved to different areas as needed, but out of the way. Floor drain with the brushed floor material to repel spills and still not be slick. May need physical therapy if you fall on a wet floor. First of all, I agree with everyone on size, make it as big as you can afford or the property permits. Make sure you think of how your boat and other things will be arranged in there before your contractor installs the boxes for the electric, unless you are doing the electric yourself (Arkansas law permits the homeowner to do their own electric as long as it meets local & National code. Your town may not allow it though) My garage is 31 X 32 and as mentioned, it will fill up fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with everything that has been said…it would be nice to have some outlets at rub rail or slightly above level. One thing I would do is duct you some heating and air conditioning vents out there. We had a new system installed in our last house and I had them add a 1/2 ton and put two vents out to the garage. It was nice in the summer and winter just to knock the edge off the heat and cold when it was needed in the house. Ideally it would be an independant system but it helped. I did all the above items. In addition I had a garage door installed in back of garage behind the boat. It opens to an 8 x 10 cement slab. Gives lots of room to work on the outboard engine and the natural light and ventilation on hot days is great. Its real easy to push the boat back onto the slab if you need to run the engine with the hose flushing attachment. Good luck with your project. Ron

I thought about that door on the back side of the garage, but unfortunately I cant do it with the attached garage plan we have. It would be really nice to have a pull through garage so that Id never have to back the boat in the garage. That would be sweet. I also thought about putting some electrical outlets in the ceiling above boat so that my charger cords wouldnt be laying around on the floor. I just built my garage for my PIV and the one item that has made a huge difference is an outlet right above the back of the boat. I leave a small 6 foot ext. cord attached to the outlet and then use it to plug into my charging system. It is out of the way when walking around and stuff. Plus a peg board on one wall to hang up extra lures, rods, reels, etc… Good luck, Okie
