Has anyone tried a prop other than that Fury 25 that mine came with? I have a 2015 with belly tank, no poles and what I would consider a light load but there just does not seem to be any “lift” with this prop and feels “heavy”. I have heard that the Fury 24 is a good choice but wanted to ask others before I buy. Thank you.
I was going to suggest the Fury 24. Just read few folks were really liking hole shot and top end.
My new Caracal came with a 26 fury. It was a dog out of the water. Switched to a 25 fury and it was pretty good. Switched to a Bravo 1xs 26 and the hole shot was very good. Switched to a 24 fury 4 blade and boom…great hole shot and very little off the top end of the 25 fury 3 blade.
Question for you Caracal guys?? Just how is that new Mercury 4 blade when you go to load your boat?? Meaning dose it bog down or dose the boat load easily??
Loading my Caracal 2015 is always an experience. It has a very tight sweet spot to get on to the trailer with no problem but switching to the 24 fury 4 blade made no difference for me as far as getting on to the trailer was concerned. It is just a much tougher experience from my triton.
GRR I believe had a very favorable experience on his with a 24p fury 3 blade.I have a 25p fury 3 blade. Hole shot is decent and can get about 70-71 on top but I cant seem to turn it more than 5500, so more might be available with the 24p.

I try to be cautious when loading but when I go to power up to the roller once it gets moving have to keep the foot in it…if you dont and the boat stops you are done and must back in a bit further to get to the roller. No winching it either.
Ive found the main thing I have to be on the money with, when loading my Caracal, is how deep the trailer is in the water. That seems to determine whether I load it easily, or have a problem. Those short bunks have to be about 2-3″ out of the water. That works for me, no matter how gradual or steep the ramp is. I have a 25 Fury on my boat. It seems to do everything I need for it to do. No complaints at all. The boat will run 70-71mph thats plenty for me. Sherm has had to up to 74mph.
Blade surface area has a lot to do with lift from my understanding and experience, so a tempest has more than a fury because its a larger diameter. The trophy is a 4-blade and smaller diameter, but with the small hub it has similar blade length as fury 4 just on a larger hub and the blades are thinner allowing for a better hole shot along with the 8 PVS plugs. Then a bravo XS has the largest diameter blades, hope that helps.
2016 Caracal with belly tank and 10 gal saddle. Twin pp, and would guess medium weight load. Running a 24p 3 blade fury, no issues loading. Great hole shot and been to 75.9 mph with one in the boat. Run 71-72 with 2 people, gear, and full live wells.
Hole Shot Problems – Top end not a major concern — I’m running a 2016 Caracal with rear gas tanks and Merc 225 Optimax and 36 Volt Fortrex. With the tanks full and livewell empty my hole shot is ok, not great, but ok and a bit sluggish. With the livewells fairly full the hole shot is awful and almost won’t plane. My current prop is a Fury 25 Pitch and top end is around 71 MPH. Again, I’m not terribly concerned about going 70 plus, but I want to get up on plane and travel around 60 to 65 MPH on a stable platform. I’m thinking of buying a Fury 4 w/24 Pitch. All the write ups state that is the right prop for my desired result. Thought? What about a 24P 3 blade? I know four blade increase the hole shot, but some say the pitch is my issue, not the number of blades? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
Update: 7/17/2019 – I bought and installed the Mercury Fury 4 4blade and wow what a difference. Also, my previous prop was a Mercury 25 pitch, but not a Fury, it doesn’t say what “model” it is. Now my hole shot is much better and I can drive the boat faster as the chine walk is much less than before. Before 60 mph was starting to get hard to drive, now I can get 65 before my hands are full. I did have the boat up to 69mph with the new prop, full tournament load, me and regular level of fill in the livewells. I’m very happy with that. Also, my lower unit needs the larger shaft, which is way more expensive… ouch!
We suggest a 24 on that setup with the 2 stroke Opti Pro XS.
The 4 blade Fury 4 loads just as well as the Fury 3. It will drive the boat into the bed of the truck.
I find the Fury 4 to work well with belly tank Cats like the PII or Caracal. If you like the performance of your Fury 3 but want a slightly better hole shot and better bow carrying ability, the Fury 4 is a good prop. No need to drop a pitch. If your not happy with the performance of your Fury 3 prop, drop down a pitch.
Best thing is to call Ronnie Gilbert and ask him recommendations and get him to work your current prop.
