Carpet decal removal questions

I have the oval basscat carpet decal on my front deck and I would like to replace it with a new one just like it. How is the best way to remove the old one? It seems to really be adhered. I even thought about just applying the new one to the old one since they will be identical. The old one just shows some wear and some fading.Any ideas?

Maybe heating it will loosen the adhesive?

Hopefully BCB will chime in. I dont know if these are actually applied with heat or just stuck on. The carpet is still in excellent condition so I dont want to take a chance of messing it up.
