I made a boneheaded mistake. I spilled some gas while filling my 10 gal saddle tank. The gas deterioted the carpet glue and now it needs to be repaired. Seems like a job I can do myself. What kind of adhesive to use and should I pull up the entire piece of carpet and clean the fiberglass and reglue or just reglue the area that is messed up?Aaron
I have made the same mistake while refueling. Carpet comes loose on inside of fender, but I left it alone and carpet glue took hold again after gas dried/evaporated
Newer boats the carpet glue may re-stick once dried pending no oil is in the gas. Older boats it will not and the glues DAP, Formica or whatever good contact glue you can get in small quantities at the local hardware gettin place you frequent.
From an older BCB reply..”We suggest you go to Home Depot and purchase DAP Weldwood brush grade contact cement, Formica brand brush grade or another variant is made by 3M. “
Weldwood contact cement. Follow the directions. You want need a clamp . Let it air tack then stick the carpet. Its there2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
