how is the best way to remove the bench seat and mount the new bucket seats in my pantera 3
Bench seat removal is pretty straight forward though there are some screws in the bottoms of the backrests that we get quite a few calls about. About an inch or so up from the bottom of these backs look for a small hole in the vinyl, and this is where a screw is ran down to hold them in place. If youre trashing the old seats the easiest thing to do is cut the vinyl and foam with a knife to expose the screwheads, otherwise you have to fish them out with a screwdriver. Everything else comes out real easy. Bucket seat installation is not too bad. Some 2 1/2″ screws into the front hinges and more screws into the back frame. Feel free to contact Service if you need more detail once you start the job. BCB
I remember a previous post a few years back about the bucket seats not being as water tight as the bench seat they replace. Is that still the case? Ive been looking at upgrading my seats (read that working on my wife to allow me to) but I dont want to give up the dry part of the dry storarge underneath. Thanks.
They will not be nearly as dry. What we have is a vacuum molded lid that can be slipped over the storage to keep it drier. The best thing that Rick used was a weigh in bag, and he simply placed the folded weigh in bag over the storage in rainy weather. They are not as dry, though many prefer the look of the newer buckets. BCB
I installed buckets in my 2001 Classic a couple of years ago. It was the best thing I ever did for my boat. Installation was quite simple. I am a mechanical retard and was able to get the old seats out and new ones in within a 3 hour period. I have had absolutely no problems with water intrusion due to bucket seat install. My under seat storage remains the driest storage in my boat by far. I have heard of problems with the storage getting wet but have not experienced that myself. Good luck and dont worry. The install is not bad at all. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
I have a 2000 Pantera III and I have the buckets in my rig, they are very comfortable and hold you in place at speed.I agree with Shap I have no problem with water in the underseat storage, mine has the rubber groumeting around the openings.Plus they give the boat a great appearance.
Will these fit in my 97 Classic and work okay?
Yes … The bucket seats will work on any boat with the center ice chest underneath the bench seats, 97 Classic incuded. BCB
I am a mechanical retard and was able to get the old seats out and new ones in within a 3 hour period. Hey Shap, thanks for the laugh!! Btw, I still drool over your boats colors. Chuck
Does it cover everything like holes or maybe unfinished glass. Just wondering? I would like to up grade if it looks factory.
