Chine walking….again!

I know this is a worn out subject, But I have a new Eyra and have been trying to spend seat time to get use to her. I go out alone about half the time. In talk about balance, how much does being alone affect the chine walk. I have now tried to use only the opposite side gas tank in hope to offset the balance and chine at least a little.Yesterday I was out and chine started around 65mph at approx 5200 rpm. I have never been over 5400rpm. I know I still need to figure out how to drive, but any thoughts!

It just takes seat time. Nobody can really answer this for you just a lot of driving and youll get used to it. Small adjustments ar the wheel back and forth and slowly trim up. Fuel load probably not gonna make that much difference

Have you read the chine walking article in the FAQS section of this forum.? Its a good read and very helpful! Ive owned a cat since 1989 and helped me tremendously with my p2. Remember its just small corrections at the wheel. Dont over drive it. I have to start driving mine around 68 or so but dont even notice it. Be patient, itll come with time just dont push it until you are comfortable.

Dont over trim and you just have to learn how to drive it. Weight distribution can make some difference but you can learn to drive it no matter how the weight is distributed b

I have owned 2 Eyras. I would almost guarantee it is a trim issue. I imagine you are running a 25 or 26 fury prop which is common place so nothing out of norm there. I can take my hands of the wheel at 70 and the boat wont chine until it drops of pad and it easy small correction. I would suggest trim all the way down get on pad push throttle full and once you hit top speed there just bump the trim once. After you hit the top speed there repeat this step again. (remember it is just a bump. Should not be more then 4 small bumps and more likely 3 is the sweet spot. I have found weight is not a huge deal in the Eyra. Not sure if you are coming to OI but if you are I would be happy to jump in and make a few runs with you.

Thanks for the advice. I have the 26 fury 3 blade. I know seat time will help. I do wish I could make the OI but cant this year, maybe next year. One of the best things I found was how well it runs in rough water.

Beg borrow or steal someone who knows how to drive a high performance boat and have them give you a lesson. Should take less than a 1/2 hour.

Im learning how to drive the Eyra myself, hard to do this time of the year on Conroe. I got up to 74 this morning and believe I was around 5500 rpm. I was full throttle so assume I just needed more trim. Everyone says it doesnt take much trim but it seems to me it takes a decent amount to get the RPMs. Atlas plate was around 10-11 on the gauge I believe. 26p Fury 4. Water started getting choppy at 74 so I slowed down.

I also have a hydralic Atlas jackplate but have barely raised it at all. Maybe I need to try bringing it up higher. What are the thoughts on jack height?
