I have a 2003 Classic D C with a 2.5 200 E F I Merc. Its turning a 25P Tempest @ 6000 RPMs, Engine sits about 2 5/8 below pad and Im getting 13 to 15#s water pressure,Top speed is 71.5 with light load, Hole shot is great. Should I raise the engine higher or go to a 26P prop for more top end? I usually fish by myself with a moderate load. Any set up help would be greatly appreciated.I absolutely love this boat and getting it set up is an obsession with me right now.

Some are running a 26, though the hole shot would be the determining factor on a 26 instead of a 25. That calculates 70.4 MPH with the nubmers you have listed. So you are running fairly well. There wont be much more to gain on a 26. Probably only a MPH.If you can run a 27, then you could gain 2 MPH. Also try a Trophy in a 26. That also would give a little more than a 26 Tempest. BCB

I have been running a modified 25″ temptest. I had it worked to a 26″ to get my rpms down. It runs great with speeds in the 73 to 74 mph range on most days when fishing by myself with all of my gear. Once in a while under perfect conditions I have been able to run 75 to 76 with the above load. Your prop shaft height seems to be right on and your rpms are close. The only other option I have had some luck with lately is a 25″ blueprinted Trophy prop by DAH proppellors. It is very sweet and carries a load better than the Temptest. I have also experimented with some race type wheels that have put me at 77 mph but they are not suitable for a fishing prop. Trust me when I say I have spent alot of money and time on setup and Im back with the Temptest and Trophy with my propshaft 2 1/2″ below the pad.
